The role 
Biofidelity is looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with strong diagnostic, scientific and medical expertise to expand and support Biofidelity’s commercial and clinical objectives. In this role you would be responsible for developing and expanding a strong network of community and academic physicians, in addition to key opinion leaders with the goal of implementing integrated clinical and commercial strategies for Biofidelity’s products to enhance our corporate image and increase understanding of Biofidelity’s oncology/molecular clinical applications. This position reports to the Vice President/Executive Director Medical Affairs (GMAL). 

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners including oncologists and hematologists, patient advocacy groups, pathologists, diagnostic laboratories and pharma as we create strategies for product development, innovation, evidence generation and research

  • Partner with commercial and marketing teams in building engagement with leading KOLs and provide support and education with the goal of emphasizing the strengths of Biofidelity’s products

  • Support the GMAL in establishing and driving a clinical and scientific agenda, by engaging researchers through Biofidelity’s activities and partnerships, including where appropriate, conducting studies that lead to publications in support of Biofidelity’s product objectives

  • Provide strategies to develop advocates for Biofidelity and its products

  • Facilitate and represent  Biofidelity at regional and national scientific conferences and forums

  • Support GMAL in facilitating Advisory Boards and round tables to gather clinical insights to enable the sharing of clinical knowledge with and between both internal and external stakeholders

  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain up-to-date scientific, clinical and technical expertise and gather market intelligence on competitor products and new products in development

  • Provide prompt response to scientific and clinical inquiries from health care providers

  • Provide medical input on promotional and other materials in accordance with appropriate regulations

  • Create materials such as slide decks, training materials, reports,  white papers, monographs, case report summaries, and clinical synopsis

  • Assist with identification of investigator-initiated studies, guiding through the approval process and monitoring study progress

  • Function as the primary clinical resource to the Sales & Marketing team with participation in medical updates, scientific presentations, journal clubs, teleconferences, and meetings as requested

  • Facilitate opportunities for the Marketing and Medical Affairs teams to partner with KOLs for focus groups, PR events, working meetings and scientific forums

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Advanced scientific and clinical knowledge of the biotechnology, diagnostics and oncology realms

  • Strong business acumen 

  • Solid foundation in translational medicine, genomics, molecular and cancer biology

  • Knowledge of oncology and diagnostic pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization processes, including but not limited to clinical operations, commercial, translational, regulatory, and medical affairs

  • Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement (e.g., KOLs, community and academic oncologists, advocacy groups, payers) 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Critical thinking, attention to detail and ability to quickly grasp knowledge, put data into perspective and communicate it effectively

  • Cross-cultural awareness, ability to thrive in a small, dynamic and rapidly growing company environment

  • Willingness to travel as required

Requisite Education and Experience/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in a scientific or clinical field of study (M.S. or nursing degree)

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent degree) (desired)

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience as a Medical Science Liaison in a diagnostic, biotech, pharmaceutical, or other life sciences company

  • Experience with diagnostic development, oncology and hematology clinical biomarker development, cfDNA-based applications and Next Generation Sequencing platforms                

  • Experience in market analysis, market access strategy and planning

  • Familiarity with CLIA, LDT, Sunshine Act (2013), AdvaMed Guidelines

  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy

  • Previous experience training and teaching others

  • Experience working with drug development teams to understand diagnostic needs and develop strategic diagnostic plans (desired)

  • Experience in leading publication planning (desired)
